Cassie's 2015 Journey on the Road to Rio 2016...

parapanThe 2016 Olympics and Paralympics in Rio de Jenerio, Brazil may be a year away, but the journey actually started in November 2012, about 2 months after the London 2012 Paralympics. 2014 and 2015 have been trying, but Cassie continues to strive for success. At the 2015 National Paralympic Track & Field Trials and Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota, Cassie set two World Records in the Womens' T51 100m and 200m. Unfortunately, as of now, the International Paralympic Committee has removed the women's T51 races from the current 2016 Rio de Jenerio Paralympic Athletics schedule. Fortunately, Cassie trains and competes in both track events and field events. Classed as an F51 for Paralympic field events, Cassie hopes to compete in the women's F51 club throw and the womens combined F51-52 discus throw at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. In August 2015, Cassie proudly wore the USA uniform and competed as a member of the Parapan American Track & Field Team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her medal haul (pictured) included a bronze in the combined T51-52 100m, a bronze in the club throw, and a silver in the F51-52 discus.
